Basic Safety Training

Course Objective
To give departmental safety officers/coordinators a firm technical background in safety. This is in accordance with the California Code of Health and Safety.

Course Description
Basic Safety Training will be taught virtually and is broken up into 2 days of instruction the first week and 2 days of instruction the second week. Students will need to attend the entire session to receive credit for the course. Additional access and instructions will be emailed to enrolled students prior to the course date.

It is mandatory (State Administrative Manual 2580.4) for all State departmental safety coordinators to take this class within one year of appointment. It is also available to safety officers/coordinators of other public entities on a space available basis. Students who complete the entire session will receive an OSHA 30-Hour General Industry completion card.

The course is $1,000.00 per student. (No Charge to State Agencies)

Student "No-Show" Policy
In the event a student fails to attend any class in which he/she has enrolled without either cancelling enrollment at least 10 business day(s) prior to the beginning of class, or sending a substitute student in his/her place, his/her agency will incur a $750.00 "No-Show" Charge.

Course Size
This course has a minimum student count of 25 and a maximum student count of 30.

Certification Expiration
The certification achieved by taking this course will expire 0 months after taking the class.
